Independent AI strategy and adoption advisory

AI should make your organisation stronger. What’s standing in the way?

I work with leaders to figure out what AI should mean for their organisation, develop a clear strategy that every team can drive forward with confidence, and support them through the decisions that bring it to life.

AI is a generational opportunity. But is it making a difference in your business?

You’ve invested in AI, run pilots with mixed results, and teams are trying new things. Some of it even looks promising, but is it adding up to a better organisation?

Even with a successful pilot, it can be hard to get people to change how they work, or to make the change stick.

Or perhaps you’re still figuring out where to start, overwhelmed by the pace of AI change, and still figuring out which path to take is the right one for you.

Your AI transformation takes shape in the small decisions your people make every day.

They’re deciding whether to make time in a busy week, change a familiar process or try something that might not work.

You shape those choices through the priorities you set, the room you give people to experiment and how you respond when things don’t go to plan.

  • Time

What am I supposed to stop doing to make time for this?

  • Permission

If I find a better way, am I allowed to change the process?

  • Backing

Will my manager back me if I try it and it doesn’t work?

I'm an optimist about what people can achieve with AI when the conditions are right.

I believe an AI transformation begins in earnest when leaders accept that their people are the ones who will make it happen. I have never met an organisation short of capable people or useful ideas, and when its people believe in the direction and have permission to change how work is done, they do their best work, innovation creates value, and the organisation is more able to fulfil its purpose.

I've been involved in this kind of change for most of my career, from civil engineering into digital delivery at a global engineering consultancy. The technology always changes, but the importance of people, and good strategy, never does. Today I run an AI-native practice, using AI and agents I've built myself every day, so my views on how AI will change work come from my own use.

How I think about AI adoption

I want our conversations to leave you excited and brimming with ideas for your organisation, because a transformation is sustained by enthusiasm and clarity, and both start with knowing what's possible.

How we'd work together

You’ll work with me directly, from the first conversation to the last. Before I suggest anything, I’ll spend time with you, your leaders and the people doing the work — and I’ll tell you plainly what I think. Wherever you are with AI, I’ll meet you there, bringing my enthusiasm and a genuine curiosity about your organisation, because whatever we do together has to fit how your people actually work. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.

Getting to know you

I start by getting to know your organisation: what you do, what you're proud of, what you're aiming for and what's getting in the way. I talk privately with your leaders and the people closest to the work, and I'll give you an honest picture of where you stand, and what's holding you back.

Seeing what's possible

This is the part I love. We explore what AI could make possible for you, your people and the people you serve, with plenty of ideas and real examples, from quick wins to the genuinely ambitious. I want you to leave excited about what’s ahead, because that excitement is what gets people striving for something better, and keeps them going when it gets hard.

An ambition that's yours

The best ambitions grow out of what you're already good at. With your leaders, we'll shape an ambition for AI that makes sense for your business, test it with the people who'll make it work, and decide what to prioritise and what to stop.

Bringing your people with you

Change takes hold when an organisation's people believe in it, and that takes a clear imperative and a coherent story: what's changing, why, and why now. So we bring your people along on the journey. Your leaders will be able to explain why the change matters, your teams will know how to act on it in their own work, and they'll know where they're free to explore, innovate and create value only they can.

You'll work with me directly from the first conversation until the final recommendation. And optionally beyond if you want me in your corner for the tough decisions ahead.

What it's like to work with me

What makes Phil exceptional is not simply his knowledge of technology, digital transformation, or AI. It is his ability to help leaders make sense of uncertainty.

I had the privilege of working closely with Phil on a range of digital transformation, AI, information management, and organizational change initiatives at Hatch.

What makes Phil exceptional is not simply his knowledge of technology, digital transformation, or AI. It is his ability to help leaders make sense of uncertainty. At a time when organizations are inundated with competing priorities, emerging technologies, vendor promises, and constant disruption, Phil has a remarkable ability to cut through the noise and focus attention on what truly matters.

He understands that successful transformation is never just about technology. It is about people, leadership, culture, capability, and organizational readiness. Throughout our work together, he consistently challenged us to think beyond tools and platforms and instead focus on the more important questions: What problem are we actually trying to solve? How will this create value? What needs to change for people to succeed? And are we prepared to lead through the discomfort that meaningful transformation inevitably creates?

One of Phil's greatest strengths is his ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organization. I have seen him hold his own in executive discussions about operating models, strategic direction, and organizational change while also connecting effortlessly with practitioners, engineers, and project teams. He understands how to translate complex ideas into language that resonates with different audiences without oversimplifying the underlying issues.

What I appreciated most about working with Phil was the confidence that comes from knowing he is motivated by the right things. He is thoughtful, empathetic, intellectually curious, and genuinely committed to helping both organizations and individuals succeed. He brings challenge when challenge is required, but always from a place of support and partnership. That combination of honesty, credibility, and empathy is increasingly rare.

Phil is a thoughtful voice on the future of AI and digital transformation where he consistently advocates for a human-centered approach. He believes that technology should amplify expertise, not replace it. His perspective is grounded in the idea that the organizations that thrive will be those that create digitally enabled people, where human judgment, experience, and creativity are enhanced through intelligent tools rather than displaced by them.

Most importantly, Phil is someone I trust. When faced with difficult decisions, complex transformation challenges, or uncertain futures, he is the kind of person you want on your team.

I recommend Phil without hesitation.

Phil is one of those rare people who changes the energy in a room the moment he steps into it. I invited Phil to speak with our Learning Community of Practice during an AI for Learning session he co‑facilitated with our team, and he wasn't just a thought leader with a focus on emerging possibilities — he expanded how we think. His strategic, critical lens helped us frame AI in ways that were both practical and inspiring, and his enthusiasm made the conversation feel accessible rather than overwhelming.

What stands out even more about Phil is his curiosity. He leans into ideas, asks thoughtful questions, and helps refine concepts in a way that makes the final solution stronger. He challenges me to go deeper in my own thinking, sparks stimulating conversation and exposed me to how innovative ideas get pushed forward in operations. He's a natural connector — someone who builds relationships with ease, listens deeply, and brings big, imaginative ideas forward while grounding them in thoughtful, real‑world execution.

He gives his time generously, shows up with positivity, and genuinely has a way of lifting people up that stays with you long after the interaction.

I look forward to any opportunity to work with Phil again. He's someone who strengthens teams, elevates thinking, and makes the work better.
